Brand New soft tops

Post by chrishoys » Wed Jan 09, 2002 1:10 pm

Hey guys and gals
A question for you. Has anyone purchased a brand new soft top for thier MX5, what material was it made out of and how much did it cost, and the all important one - where did it come from? Did you have to pay large shipping / postage costs?
Thanks
Chrissy
Oh by the way - I am searching for cool P Plate ideas for my newly purchased 1990 blue one, any good ideas please?

Just taken delivery of a new "Robins" top fitted to my 90RED1.$1000 after negotiation. Cost the upholstorer (SP?) who did the job $850 which I believe is the going wholesale rate. Could find out the wholesaler for you but any firm should know where to go - including the franchises who recommended the course of action I took. Told me a factory top would cost close to $2000!!!

Chrissy:
the "guy on the shore" is Al from AL's Upholstery Ltd
20 A Leiden Pl Glenfield Cellular phone 025-937 009

I've always had excellent service from Al, and can thoroughly recommend him.

P.S. re picking a personal plate : try CHRZMX (Chris'MX) or CRISMX?

I don't know if you refer to your car as 'the jellybean' (like I do) but both
BLUJBN and JLLYBN are available. (I guess you know you can search
availability of plates at www.plates.co.nz)
Also a reminder if you get the plate through the club I believe you get free
membership for a year.

Phil.
