Easiest way, join a MSNZ car club, they usually run a few ghykhana's on grass/gravel usually for the rally boys.

Had another drift day! This one had some more challenging setups and was a bit higher speed all day with 3rd gear being the main one of use.

Had some awesome tandems, chases and entries! Still quite a bit left in the current setup before I need to upgrade.

love the pic furai, especially the first one ..... strewth, you would barely get a ciggie paper between your car and the rail!.

did you end up giving the rail a tickle? or did you just miss it?

With redline oils,
Because it's so sticky
Fill it up, run it, check it and possibly re-fill it.

We've had a Juno car gearbox make bad noises because of redline oil.

plus it fucking stinks.

You just only hear negative things about Redline lol. The Supra and GT-R guys swear against it like the black plague. Only bad things have resulted on those cars, not sure if MX-5s are different (I think that MAY have just been relating to their 6-speed GETRAG gearboxes though, but I still wouldn't trust the stuff) :)

Interesting. I've only ever heard praise for redline gear oils. On top of that there are multiple sites across the internet that recommend the redline gear oils for a mx5. Surely such a well established brand wouldn't be producing a sub standard product?

Nothing negative, just a little factual FYI.

Sure, I said it stinks, How many fwd rally boxes have you pulled apart?

All I said, was that its sticky, and you'll need to check fluids again after a run up.

What I said isn't rocket science.

you may have noticed that I was replying to STIG, who claims to have heard only negative things about redline.
It's not rocket science but it is something I don't usually do as I'm not a mechanic by trade, so I do appreciate any advice or helpful tips. I will certainly be checking the fluid level after doing a run up.

Chassis rails are just fine, there appears to be plenty of rust in there to hold them together.

Redline murdered my old Honda box, however you are pretty much mad running anything but Honda MTF in them. Currently running some valvoline crap, does the job

redline is not the preferred oil anymore. "all" the guys in the states are changing to Ford/MotorCraft Full Synthetic Manual Transmission Fluid. Many many cases where shifting was considerably improved. i'm not sure if you can get the ford stuff in nz, may have to ebay it.

Shockproof oil is bad news for syncros. I use mt90 in my evo and it gives a nice shift.

sigh .. spent a few hours mucking around with a friend trying to get the front springs out and the buggers did not want to budge (I had the shock loose but couldn't get the wishbone thingy free). After an hour and a half of swearing and cursing I put things on the back burner as I didn't want to break anything and we were running out of available time. In the meantime I got busy and put the front canards and sideskirts on and they look awesome! :) so at least some things turned out good. I am especially happy with how they have changed the profile to give it a slightly squarer shape, less jellybean'ish. Here are some pics, but bear in mind I need to give her a good clean and the bright afternoon sun meant I could only get close up shots (sun glare fubars my cheap android phone)
