Nz new 1600 NA redline

Post by WideOpenThrottle » Fri Jan 13, 2012 8:25 pm

Just noticed on TradeMe a NZ new 1600 NA that has a rev guage that redlines at approx 1000 rpm less than the import models.
My curiosity wants to know if this is normal & why the difference? as i have never noticed this before!

I have NZ new 1989 Manual and solid red zone start about 7000.
From about 6500 it is red but dotted ad that is like yellow zone to other make?

I had to look for pic and I did search TradeMe and I see the imports has red line starting around 7200. I'm not sure the story behind though.

I have a Japanese NA8C and my redline is 7300. I would've thought that the 1600s would have had a higher limit (I know, unrelated to the initial question). Strange.

This one definately red-lines at 6400 while mine does it at 7200 [which is normal].

Listing #: 439703779

Funny that it red-lines at 6400 when the speedo max's at 220kph & the imports max at 180kph? .....it all seems a little backwards?

That's same as mine.
See the little difference between fist part and after about 7000?
It still same engine and max power around 6500? I still searching why it is different...

Not sure but I see the imports has started it from 7200.

BTW. The peek power in stock engine is 6500rpm. (Peek torque is 5500). So, the dotted red (yellow with other make I used to have) is about indicating power curve. Which I think quite nice... Just my opinion.
