I have one inlet valve on #1 down to 0 clearance, ALL others are normal, exhaust also normal. I have a bad cold misfire which reduces to minor when warm. Nothing else is faulty, been through everything. Just #1 compression down to 150.
This suddenly started a few weeks ago, engine was fine before then.
It is a JDM 98NB 1600 with solid lifters, the shims are all similar thicknesses.
Have I dodged dropping a valve? and the stem has stretched??

The head is at the doctors to have a new valve fitted and re-shimmed. He will replace all 16 guide seals and fit new cam seals also.

The head is back, 1 new valve, 16 new stem seals, 2 new cam seals, clean and set up (the shim was still the right thickness). Pix of the valve face in the Miata thread.

We are up and running again, no problems starting once the fuel pressure was up. Smooth and quiet, wonderful!!.
