door locking while out of car

Post by Jon & LJ » Sun Apr 10, 2011 12:11 pm

Just purchased and sorting a few issues ,these are the biggest ones!

(Car has a disconnected dyna tron alarm due to battery failure in remote)

1.Drivers door wont lock / unlock with key,if i operate the lock tab in the car all is locking unlocking seems to be excessive slack between turning key and the movement in the arm
2. whilst running with the Only key in ignition doors suddenly lock, with me out of the car!!
3. Drivers window jams 1/3 way down
4. Passenger window slow

Found:
the solonoid for the door seems after market maybe fitted for the alarm? it is yellow with TaiGer on the underside
Ive loosned various bolts holding window mechanism to allow for wear but nothing seems to free the jam

Help anyone?

I think put a battery in the remote & see what comes right first.

Then maybe reset the alarm?

My sons car resets itself but doesnt lock the doors if the keys are still in the ignition.

If the window rubbers get old & hard they can severly slow up or bind the window.

Window could be hitting somewhere.

disconect the door locking motor in the drivers side there shouldbe a bar coming out of it that will be screwed onto the lock bar take that off
check that the bar going from the catch to the door lock barel is conected

that should fix the locking issues

Try cleaning the contacts in the window switch. They get gummed up and cause slow running.
Give the window mechanisim and slides a good dose of Silicone spray as well.
Check your windows not catching on a cable as they can come unclipped.

window

So I finally had a good look around, and found the window was jamming on a loose cable coming from the winder motor. the nylon plug ? attached to the bottom of the glass was coming dwn on the cable.
all sweet now.
Window leaks right on the curve of the door glass, i used some crc silicone grease to help the seal but will look at packing out the window rubber out

Cheers for all the posts
