Air conditioning

Post by Ralph » Sat Jan 22, 2011 7:32 am

Hi, I am new and have just bought a lovely 1999 NZ new model and while it has an air conditioning compressor it dosnt seem to work and there is no on and off swtich on the dash. I am wondering being NZ new that they may have taken a shortcut but seems strange to mount the compressor. Has anybody come accross this before on NZ new cars?
Thanks

there should be a button between the fan speed and temp dials for a/c
check that there is gas in the system there should be a cap on one of the a/c lines with an H on it take that off and push the valve down gently but be careful you will get abit of oil blow out if it is full of gas
if it has gas check that the idle drops when you press the a/c button if not it may have a bad pressure swich or blown fuse etc
if all else fails talk to Ben at http://www.autoairltd.co.nz/
tell him Cole at Bodyworks sent you

Thanks for that information. On checking there is no switch and the compressor is for the power steering I'm sure.
Oh well no aircon, just as well its a soft top as well.
