Front spoiler mounting

Post by Timmo » Mon Dec 21, 2009 8:21 am

Hi Guys- In the absence of a specific sub-forum dealing with body/external MX5 matters, I thought i'd ask here.

I just bought a front spoiler for my NA8- Its the standard 'A' lip which fits onto the bottom of the front bumper.

Does anyone know if the standard fitment of these relies on any sort of reinforcement on the standard bumper? (i.e. a strip of metal which the screws tap into instead of just plastic)...or will washers be enough?

Cheers

I did mine with 6mm bolts and washers. The factory installation is just
plastic clips. It took a couple of scrapes on the ground and was fine. Even
the bumper doesn't have much holding it on.

Cool sounds good- I have some of the metal clips which you often see on trim fittings. These just clip over the plastic and then the screw taps into them....kind of like a mixture between a washer and a nut.
