door seals

Post by Hojo » Mon Sep 14, 2009 3:48 pm

Hi guys,

This last winter my car hasn't been garaged as much as I would like and I noticed that after a heavy rain my driver side seat is quite wet. I have called 3 places in Lower Hutt (Mazda parts and dealers) and I have asked if I can get the door seals replaced without replacing the whole top or anything else. Each place I called said they didn't know.

Does anyone know if the seals can be replaced easily and where I might be able to get some.

It is an '89 NA.

Thanks.

Not cheap but UK MX5 parts listed on there web site.
http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/product_info. ... cts_id/667 for example.

I think it must be able to source. Tried a dealer? Mat be Ross at MX5Mart?

Good luck
Ben

Thanks Ben,

The website says that leaking at the seals usually means that the hood has shrunk..... maybe its time for the all expensive hood replacement..... (its about time anyway)

does anyone know if a glass windoed hood can be retrofitted to an '89 NA?

You can fit a NB hood onto a NA no problems.

I'm on the hunting of new hood as well. Same issue leaking at side, nit good ( actually bad) condition hood over all.
There is many Le Mans at wellington, few on TradeMe selling 3rd party hood include glass window version. (I haven't tried as I'm about purchasing one...) Those are either zipped out or one piece. Seems to be opne piece one is popular.

I was quoted cloth one that has zipped out tinted glass window version that can also be top-down without unzipping first ( as they say new improved design) just less than $1,200.
A vinyl top with one piece glass window version should be around 800+.
