Aerial information needed

Recently I had to get a new mast for the retractable aerial on my 1991 MX5.

No problem there until I came to fit it. Had to remove the aerial to get the
old parts out and then it became a mission to wind the old mast back in using
the motor.

Finished up taking it to a local auto sparky.

He finally sorted the problem - part of the old nylon cable was jammed in the
rewind mechanism. he got that out but now tells me there is a missing part
inside.

It is the bit that holds the small cog that activates the rewind mechanism.
When the power goes on it lifts and jumps out of gear. he says there should
be some sort of retaining plate or washer. As it is not there I have to
either make something to do the job or get the part from an old broken
aerial.

Has anyone got an old retractable aerial that they don't want or one they can
photograph the part so that I can get an idea what I need to try and make.

It cant be too tight or the cog won't turn but if it too loose then the cog
jumps out of gear.

Help!!!!!!

Hi Miatamad,

If you can take a picture that would be great but I am in Auckland - on North Shore. Can't touch base until after long weekend but I'm not in any hurry.

How about I PM you early next week and we can make a time...or are you going to Cardronna Wed Night?...I feel a thirst starting already
