Noticed these on trademe recently, how does that work then? I have the top in my 1994 replaced with glass, its got the zip though - obviously the lid won't go down with it zipped up (unlike plastic, glass doesn't fold in half for some crazy reason!). Are these tops somehow different?
I love the new z-roof with single point locking but to be honest, its more of a pain to pull up in a hurry than the old style

though very quick to lower

The NB top is designed differently. Have a look inside one and you will see
it has an extra sliding component to allow the movement of the glass. To fit
an NA I assume you would need the later frame as well for it to work. It
does reduce head room slightly.
The new Z design works well but it does take up more room when lowered so
you do lose some storage space that is still available with the older
design. This unavailable (extra luggage?) space is what allows the metal
roof to lower without using up any boot space as well.

It's a while since I've looked but if memory serves well, the NA frame will work OK provided that some aditional straps are installed to control the relative position of the hoops as they move. And yes, I think they cut the fabric differently. I also seem to recall that the glass no-zip windows are smaller than stock too.
Look at Duetto Motors or other soft-top suppliers - may be able to glean something that way.

Thanks for that, I'll see if I can glean some information

I hate having to unzip the window
