I have a boot luggage rack on my 1990 5 which was already on the car when I bought it 3 1/2 years ago. Its constructed of chromed tubing and clamps onto the boot lid at either side. It has a stated carrying capacity of 10Kg. If you want a photo send me an email at

Have you considered a MaXi5ac or similar? Have you repositioned the spare
wheel under the floor? Repositioning the spare wheel will almost double the
useable boot space. The MaXi5ac also holds a surprising amount of gear.
