well i gave the car its first really long run this weekend, going down to Antons birthday in turangi. After frantic saturday spannering putting in a new clutch master cylinder, i filled up with BP's finest 98 octane and set off.
Cruising down it became very apparent that the fuel mileage was better than before when travelling at 110KMH(honest officer)! on the trip home it was great to be able to just pass cars at will without having to plan a run up. very stress free driving indeed.
I was trying to see how many k's i could get out of the tank but once past Rotorua i gave it the big welly through the curvy pyes pa road for about 30k's which blew my mileage experiment.(what can i say..i have no self control!)
So despite my 30k's of spirited driving, ive done 385k's and i still have the fuel gauge needle hovering above the quarter full mark on the dial.
so given my mix of sedate and spirited driving im getting the same combined mileage as pre turbo but with more fun and significantly less stress as those 90kmh travelling road blocks are disposed of with a twitch of the ankle.....
OH AND HAPPY 40TH ANTON! HEHE
want better fuel mileage? get a turbo!

(all said tounge in cheek - no offence intended)
Sooo - with the savings you make on fuel - whats the return on investment on the cost of the turbo?
Sounds like my argument with the wife. I saved $20 kg for Snapper by buying a boat, fishing takle, fuel etc.
So whilst the fish is "free" - the real cost is about $4000 per kg. (coz I'm a lousy fisherman)

Ha ha.
Its good to know that all that extra fun with the turbo has very little extra running cost in terms of fuel usage. Its like having your fish and eating it!
seriously though its made a world of difference in terms of stress free driving in traffic on the open road, passing is just so easy.
