Door Water Problems

Heya guys,

I opened up the speaker covers today (with the intention of looking at the condition of the speakers because they are not performing that well, I wanted to get new ones). Well as I pulled of the covers a reasonable amount of water came out

with them so consequently the speakers are stuffed because of this.

I think I have found the leak, I pulled door the panel of I ran some water down the outside the widow with the hose and found that it just goes straight into the door, this happens on both sides. Thus meaning the window rubbers aren’t doing their job. On closer inspection they are not even touching the glass and seam very hard and brittle

Has anyone else had this problem?
Am I correct that changing the rubbers will fix the problem?
How hard is it to get new rubbers?
Is it difficult to remove and install the rubbers?

Hi Ryan, I think you'll find that no matter what you do, water will get in there. Changing the rubbers won't stop it.

Now I don't really remember what the inside of my doors looks like (it has been a while since I installed new speakers, better electric window cables and door unlock solenoids), but there is likely a drain hole at the base of the door, which in your case is probably blocked.

Do your speakers have splash covers on the back of them? It is pretty common for speakers to have a half plastic cover over them to stop water hitting them from the top - once again, I can't remember if mine do... but obviously it won't stop a flood

anyone else know for certain... or have photos of the inside of their door?

Water will get in the doors. It does on any car (well any I can afford)
which is why they have a plastic liner between the trim and the metal. The
speakers should have a splash guard as well. There are small flattish drains
along the bottom of the door. These easily clog up with all sorts of crud.
Clean them out with a flat blade screwdriver or something similar, and keep
them clean.
