Seam welding

Post by warrior » Tue Oct 21, 2014 6:05 pm

I want seem weld on my door openings to stiffen the car up. I have done a bit of research on this and looks quite straight forward.

There is only one problem...I cant weld.

Is there anyone out there wanting to do this for a job (money or beer will be paid)

I have been told to weld a short bead (about 1 inch long) then skip ahead 2 inches then weld again.

All the welding will be covered by the door opening trim.

I can clean off the points to be welded and get them ready then all you have to do is weld them, should not take to long.

Anyone out there?

How did it make the car feel? Was it worth doing?

I would just double or triple spot-weld the door openings
faster, tidier, and just as stiff.

I can do it if you like.

I won't know until the car is back on the ground off the dolly, but I would imagine a lot with out the added weight of braces....
