s'long as you aren't losing the NA in "favour" of it, I wouldn't be too worried.

It's just another MX5 in the family, and that's never a bad thing. ;)

That said, I've never driven one of those things, so I'm not much help. Just trying to help look on the bright side.

I've test driven a base model NC before and they handle pretty much the same as an NA but with moar power, and wayy more space. The one thing I didn't like was the handbrake handle kept hitting my leg but I'm 6' 4" so idk. I recommend spending a tiny bit more and getting a special edition or RS model or something so you can tell people you have an RS haha :). Hope this helps.

At 5' 4" I don't think it will be an issue!

get the 2 liter model which has a better spec.
also make sure you replace the radiator water overflow bottle asap as they have a tendency to crack and you lose the pressure out of the cooling system and then overheat the engine.

the '05-'06 models will be coming up for a soft top replacement very soon too so factor that into purchase price.

I know a few people that have moved from NA to NC and they all say the NC is a "better car" but the NA is more "Fun to drive and invloves the driver more" :D

Not needing it for any reason other than the auto as a horse fell on her knee many years ago and manuals are still a bit painful for her!

Yeah we've had 3 na's and an nc. I'm back with an NA. The nc is a great car, but doesn't have the fun that the NA has, too refined for my tastes, handles superbly and feels safer. Would own again no problem.

Pity she doesn't want a manual NC - mine is for sale!!!
There are quite a few differences...between models - the NZ new ones are top spec esp the leather seat model like mine. Many imports have 16inch wheels, no spot lights etc.
The NC is a great car and plenty 'involving'!

the NC suspension is the most criticised among enthusiasts for its ride height especially. while good in standard trim, the car can be transformed in both ride comfort and performance by nice set of ohlins for example.

I had an nb rs with 6 speed manual and have sold and bought a nc tiptronic auto with paddle shifters on the steering wheel. absolutely love it nicer ride and more room as it is a bigger cockpit. I too had a problem with my left leg and needed auto. all the nc rs models have 6 speed manuals so you will have to settle for a basic model for auto. I love the paddle shift but not many around
