I was suppoeed to post this understand What Have You Done to Roadster Today... the stem of key is visable in lock but behind the swivel plate. I am unable to grab it with my convenional long nose pliers. Does anyone know how to extract the lock barrel to retrieve it or know of a link showing required technique???
I have been paranoid of this happening for some time due to the ridiculous thickness of the key.
I have spares and have been contemplating fitting keyless entry tor some time. Procrastinating has cost me extra work so dissappointed with myself.

Or you could drill a tiny hole in the key and then wind in a small long screw and slowly extract the key??? just kidding!..but it may work :D

Otherwise off with the door card and out with the lock and see if it will dis-assemble..from memory I think it might!

I tried tweezers but they were too wide to fit through the swivel weather plate. I tried a thin pair from a Swiss Army knife but could not apply enough pressure/tension to extract thd remnant of key. I tried to use 2 thin screwdrivers like a pair of chopsticks to no avail. I turned the plate and was able to force the long nose pliers in and successfully remove remove the key without distorting the plate. Now I need to fastrack the keyless entry project. Luckily I have 2 spare sets of keys so getting another cut is an easy task

Someone on Clubroadster did something similar to this. Can't find the original post though

i got a new key cut at the locksmiths from the lock code and it turns so much easier than one copied from an old key. if you still have your factory key just take the code in and get one made.
