alignment bolts

Post by warrior » Wed Jul 23, 2014 6:30 pm

I have ordered a bushing kit for my na and I am going to replace the alignment bolts when I fit the kit. I have read that the later model bolts are much better (1994) onwards. I have also read that mazda only sell the later model ones now.

does anyone know if this is true and if not where can I get the newer model ones from.

one more thing...... does anyone have a press (in auckland) I can use to put the bushes in with.

be VERY careful pressing the bushings...many many arms have been wrecked doing this.

Yes when i checked the pricing at work on the eccentric bolts they only showed the uprated version like these with the groove inside the thread.

Also as slydit said dont use a press to get the old bushes out as the arms are rather weak. Best/fun way is to get a powerful blow torch and burn them out.
Or you can get yourself a 3 prong puller and push them out like i did.

I swapped all my bushes using a bench vice and a few sockets

hope it helps

the newer style bolts are alot better. noticed a big difference between the two when we did Donovan's car. way easier to get the finer adjustment.

and you wont need a press to put the urethane bushes in either
