I have decided to have a crack at making a DIY roof vent for my hardtop. I have ordered one of these from ebay (it measures 255mm x 180mm x 35mm) and I plan to have it with the vent opening facing towards the back to extract air rather than have it facing forwards pushing air in.
I was thinking of having a sliding plastic door on the inside of the hardtop to be able to close it when not in use (similar to the OEM ashtray lid) but am having trouble finding something suitable... does anyone have any ideas on what I could use or where I could look for potential solutions?

I can see issues with keeping rain out once you're not moving. Even with the sliding door idea. I say just roll the windows down.

Also bear in mind the fiberglass isn't normal and you have to use a special resin or something

Personally I think it would make your car look like it had some sort of refrigerated unit and resemble an asian restaurant delivery vehicle....... Id opt for the Fooes vents as these can be reversed easily or give up the cigarettes mate!!!

fair call guys... after considering your responses and thinking about it long and hard, I will shelve this idea.
I think I will now instead get an STI sticker and put it on it and stick the $10 airscoop on my mothers granny mobile when she isn't looking

Hey Mr Grey,
You know my background in composites so if you want to sit down with me and we take a good hard look to see if it can be done without any drama then you are more than welcome... I have everything we would likely need in my workshop.
However, I think that I would be looking at this:

A more pricey option for sure, but SOOOO COOL!
