A shorter option could be to leave Kopu and loop back via Ngatea and back up Kaiaua coast. Stopping off for fish and chips at Kaiaua. This route would not be as long in the saddle but still be a few hours of fun.

I have had some feedback regarding the length of this cruise..... As it is end of holidays and roads could get busier than usual it seems reasonable to do a shorter route. I am proposing to meet at BP Bombay about 9.00-9.15. Depart from there at 9.30 and travel to Kopu, either along Paparata Rd and joining main road at Mangatawhiri or main highway all the way from Pokeno. We can stop for a drink( either alcoholic or non) on the deck at Kopu Hotel. There is usually a vast array of nice cars and bikes either passing or stopping here. From Kopu we can loop back through Ngatea up to Waitakaruru and then back home via Kaiaua along the coast. We can stop off for fish and chips at Kaiaua and maybe another drink if required. Once we hit Clevedon it is an easy drive back to the motorway at Hill Rd Manurewa. As Warrior has indicated we should be back in Auckland around 2 pm depending on how long we decide to stop for etc. the actual driving component would only be about 3-3.5 hours.

May 3 is this Saturday. I have had confirmation from a couple of members now. Lets try and get a massive turn out. Its always hard to organise the masses. It does seem that all the events I have attended that everyone has a great time and meets a new face who has only ever been a logon name prior. The weather is going to be favourable till sunday so put the lawns and other chores of till sunday. Treat yourself and your car and get out and enjoy available leisure time while conditions are good. It wont be long and the moans of frosty days and rainy fogged up windows will be upon us. If you wish to register a confirmed attendance then feel free to do so. This may assist others to commit also. Our return route will be avoiding heavy traffic routes and taking in some lovely corners which MX5's thrive on.

Anyone else keen on attending and showing an interest? Sad to see that from such a large membership forum that so few people actually participate. The weather is going to be superb for MX5ing....

So the plan is to meet at BP BOMBAY...... (Be there by 9.15 for a pre cruise chat.).... Its right beside the motorway on top of the Bombay Hills.....To increase the corners and back roads we WILL LEAVE at 9.30 and head down Paparata Rd and come out at Mangatawhiri. Then we head to Kopu through Waitakaruru. We will stop and have a chat, coffee or a chilly one and regroup..... Will give Chris a chance to get Bail from the Thames Police. . We then head back over the Kopu bridge and hang a left and head to Ngatea. From there we can come up Canal Rd and head up to Kaiaua. We will stop again for a pitstop/refreshments. If anyone is hungry they can grab a feed of fish and chips. Depending on time and the general consensus we can either head back via back roads and come out at The Red Fox or head back up coast via Kawakawa Bay and Clevedon.
Feel free to join procession at any point. I recommend meeting at BP Bombay for full introductions etc and to maximise the isolated roads. If you wish to join elsewhere text me for eta at various intersections along the way. MrGrey will travelling with me and can handle the communications. Once we hit the road we will know approximately when we will arrive at various destinations.
Make sure your cars are gassed up prior to departure and fluids all checked. Try and ditch the hardtops and lets make an outing of it. Bring a camera so we can post some awesome pics for those who arent coming.
