Cruise waypoints
Here are the road names for those who want to either check route or load into their navigation devices(didnt think any women were driving though )
Meet Bombay. Travel East on Paparata rd. Turn right onto Paparimu Rd. Right onto Lyons Rd. Left onto either SH or old main road which runs parallel. Left onto SH 25 (Hauraki Plains) to Kopu...... Rest stop and regroup!
Leave Kopu back over bridge on SH25. Left into Hauraki Rd. Pass through Turua. Right into Orchard East Rd. Follow through to Ngatea. Pop out other side of Ngatea on Orchard West Rd. Tutrn right into either Canal East Rd or Canal West Rd..... (Next roads past Central)
These two roads are on either side of the canal. Now Im not suggesting racing a car on either side along here but maybe the slower cars can take the Eastern side and the throttle pushers can take the western side.
This will bring us out at Waitakaruru on SH 25. Turn left here and back over the old bridge. Turn right into Front Miranda Rd. Follow this past Miranda Hot Pools on through to Kaiaua..... Be careful at the right hairpin corner. DO NOT TURN LEFT. Follow to the right....
Watch out for campervans. They have a beach they frequent along here and are slow as on the roads. Continue to Kaiaua and regroup at fish shop/pub carpark.
From Kaiaau we come back from the carpark a few hundred metres and turn right into Kaiaua Rd. Follow this road and then turn right into Magatangi Rd. This will bring us out at the curved intersection of Rawiri Rd/Mangatawhiri Rd.
This is the old sweeper bend of the old main road beside where they used to make the concrete water tanks. This would be a good place to say our goodbyes to Fooescrew. Either turn left here and pop out at the main highway beside the Maramurua Golf Course or turn right and follow the old main road along past The Castle and join up with Main Highway at Mangatawhiri.
Either follow your nose along the Main Highway or duck back up along lyons Rd and retrace original route..
Be seeing you soon at BP. Weather is great. Im waiting on MrGrey arrival from up North. Hope his trip down is going ok and we arrive on time at BP.
Dont forget your sunglasses and gas up prior to leaving. Leave the roof at home.

Indeed.... It was a lucky day for us. My luck started with having an unmarked police car behind me as I chased down Harlan at 130 km/hr up the Bombays..... Bling.... On went the Blue &Red Disco Strobes..... F%#*~¥¥!!!!! Etc.... Slowed to 100 straight away. Disco lights went off and unmarked pulled up alongside and ONLY SIGNALLED TO SLOW. DOWN..... Whew. Sigh of relief. That $250 fine or more is much better going towards further car parts.
Had a lady stop at Kopu while taking shots asking who we were and that she also had a MX5. She wished us well.
We did a blat up the Hikuwai hill to keep Harlans steering wheel in correct working order but got held up by a BMW motorbike. He would not move for me even though we pressured him on everybend. We then allowed Harlan to put the pressure on but to no avail. A slow moving car held the bike up.
We stopped on side of road and created a space up front and then continued on up the hill. Roads were too busy for super fun so made tracks to Paeroa before heading to Ngatea. Had a pit stop at the War Memorial on the hill and met some Locals. The girls loved the line up of vars and helped out as photo props. We then had a feed at a pub in Paeroa amd unfortunately had to go our own ways. Warrior, Cat5 GRUVBB and MrGrey wound back to Ak and Harlan had a meeting in Waikato and Fooesboy shot back to Te Aroha. MrGrey now heading back to Whangarei but picking up some Roadster parts on the way home. I will leave him to boast about his new toys in another post
Big ups to Fooesboy and MrGrey for making the effort to come all that way for a meet up. Also a big HELLO & WELCOME to Cat5 for his first event. Was great to meet you and hope to see you at further outings.
Will check through video footage and pics later and post suitable stuff up here for all to see.
Thanks Guys for turning up and having such a blast. The weather was awesome and the company even better.

well, someone had to lower the tone and represent the riffraff.... I couldn't let the rest of the lads make every one think that mx5 owners are all classy and respectable!

Harlan I'm jealous of you right now. There's nothing worthy on this Island... Introduce meMrGrey wrote:That photo doesn't do her justice, she was a cutie pie
She must have had a thing for Harlan as she posed on his car even tho' his was the only one with bird turd on the bonnet (she didn't get any on her ass, don't worry, I checked)
