After several flat batteries because I forgot to turn the driving lights off, I fitted a relay so they go oof and on with the park lights.

So I finally got the back fixed up where I had a little touch with another car tandeming(Cheers Cole legend).
Image

So I got it fixed up but to save money decided I would paint it myself. Potato photo but theres a large black patch on the side...
Image

I priced up getting it painted, then priced up just paint and a friend doing it and ended up going screw it Ill try doing it with cans. So I got some matched up and went at it. Came out pretty good just needs a polish after a week or so of drying. Hopefully it will come up alright.
Image

Its tempting considering the amount of times I hit stuff to just make the car a standard can colour from a hardware shop to make it easy but I think Ill leave that Idea for now...
Image

Either way it looks much better![/img]

I got busy this morning and with the help of a local MCM forum member we changed over my high-riding front OEM suspension for some bilsteins with tein s-tech springs..... I still have yet to do the back but they are a piece of piss to do compared to the fronts (and I currently have RSR lowered springs in the back anyhow so the overall ride height won't change much at all once they are in) The front has now dropped a good 20mm and no longer has the wheel arch gap like a Hilux

out with the old
Image

and in with the new
Image

and the final result complete with an approving thumbs up from Chase.
Image

Thank you for the usage of the compressors Warrior, as soon as I have changed over the back springs (I want to put the OEM springs back on the rear OEM shocks so I can on-sell the RSR lowering springs) I will staple them onto a carrier pigeon and sent them winging their merry way back to you :)

No problem Mr grey.

Just got back from a dyno tune with my car.

1991 NA 1.6 M45 SUPERCHARGER

RESULTS

REAR WHEELS

145 HP 6800RPM

805 NM 4900RPM

I,m fairly happy with this, the guy said there would have been a bit more power going to 7200rpm but I didn't see any point in it. The car now runs much better as it was running WAY to rich.

So the car has gained appox 50 RWHP and now makes around 175HP? at the engine.

It maxed out at 9.2psi.

This is done with only a powercard for tuning/fuelling and he said there would be 15-20hp with a stand alone.

May have to look into a megasquirt in the future but for now I,m happy.

Its just a very simple piggyback system that makes the injectors open for longer when the car is under boost.

It is only just bigger than a credit card , hence the name.

I will show it to you when we do the spanner day BRM

Ah ok, cool!

Well the other day, I've started stripping my spare B6.
Found prices for cam grind, head work and flywheel machining and balancing..
Thought about using B6T rods, but decided against them, as i'm not going turbo and no point adding extra rotating mass!
Going to find an older style Link like a G1 or G2.

Hopefully that'll liven it up a little bit =)

the G1 / G2 are pretty caveman spec I would advise against this plan unless you can stand rubbish idle and poor cruise tune. It may be OK if you like to drive everywhere at full throttle. A MS would be a better option than an old link.

I have a link plus in my 6 cylinder starlet and it's borderline as far as table resolution goes.

Oh really?

Thought it would have been a simple and effective way to get around that..
Mainly because I know a Link tuner, but don't want to spend $$$$s.

Started changing the brakes today, I have under estimated the work required and it is taking more than I thought.

Changing front rotors over to the 1.8 size and fitting Green Stuff pads, braided hoses and Motul 660 fluid.

Going from this....

To this!

Not a big change in size, I hope it will make a difference!

I have run into a bit of a snag on the front left, the piston is seized! I think that I am going to have to rebuild it. Will drop by Repco or Supercheep tomorrow and have a look if they have a rebuild kit in stock.

God damn mr grey, your decals are in such poor taste. I want to know where they came from immediately.

Over the past few weeks my miat has had a fever. I've replaced the thermostat, flushed the system thoroughly (twice), bled it of air (twice), made sure both the fans do their job when they're supposed to, and watched the fluid levels closely.

All fluid levels are constant. No air in the feckin system. Heater goes. Still gets warm when I go up a hill.

Suspect fucked water pump - Nice big bill coming my way.

You could move to ChristChurch as an alternative.... Not many hills down there. Actually there is not much of anything except Brownlees pie wrappers and other messes.

Or worse... but the other less catastrophic causes first. When changing the coolant do you run it without the pressure cap on until you see water flowing into the radiator (indicating tstat has opened and your pump is working)?

In normal conditions the thermofans shouldn't be running, airflow should be sufficient to cool it. Do you have poor airflow across the radiator? Check to make sure it's not clogged up with leaves or crap between the A/C condenser and radiator. Is your numberplate blocking airflow? Is the lower undertray in place?

Started installing my new TEINS today. Picked them up from trade me and they look brand new. 6kg front and 4kg rear springs.
Should have them finished tomorrow with any luck.

Then its a matter of setting the height, We will see how they go.

I may have a set of height adjustable OHLINS with 8kg 6kg and 3kg springs for sale if these TEINS work out.

From the ashes... What did you do to your roadster today?

Post by biff » Tue Mar 25, 2014 7:07 pm

Hey Warrior where are you?
I need some shocks, Christchurch roads have taken their toll. My left rear
is shot and my right front isn't far behind according to the test from the
Shock Shop.
How much would you (maybe if the Teins work out)) want for a set of fronts
and your old rears?
Cheers
Biff
