Soft top not fitting well

Post by warrior » Sun Jul 14, 2013 1:01 pm

I have installed a new (2nd hand) soft top onto the wives car...now it does not leak!!!!!!

The thing is on one side when I open the door the top of the window catches on the corner of the soft top.

I have tried everything to push the top back a little to get a bit more room, we are talking about 4-5mm is all I need.

There are two studs that the soft top holds on by, and three bolts. The studs are stopping the top from going back anymore. I am guessing the top might be a bit twisted???????

Any thoughts would be great.

Was the frame straight? Did you transfer the frames or use her old one?

this is a bit of a longshot, but maybe put a small heater in the cabin for a while to warm the soft top up and them move it whilst its a bit more pliable?

There is two other adjustments for up and parallel if you need them after trying this one.

The window stop adjustment is the problem.

Make sure the roof is latched down and tight.

Take of the door panel and you will see the 2 stops.

Put the window down then bring it up so you can close the window without it hitting the roof.

Tighten the stops onto the window at that point.

You dont want the window to miss the roof by much as you need to keep a window to hood seal.

Thanks for all the help, sorted. Ross did you get my E mail about the rear rear bumper? I still want it but wont be in Hamilton for about two weeks. If you make it up to Auckland before then I can meet you somewhere to pick it up.

Please let me know if that is possible. Cheers
