Slipping/folding floor mats

Post by authentic » Sat Jul 13, 2013 7:46 pm

I can't be the only one with mats that slide forward and fold up right behind the pedals. For now I've taken the driver's one out since its kind of dangerous, and it drives me mad.

I've tried a bunch of things to fix this such as velcro strips, sticky rubber 'non slip' things (got doitzed on that one), and I reached a low point when I gave duct tape a try. None of that really worked and now I'm out of ideas. What do you guys use to keep them in place?

maybe get a motor trimmer to rivet some domes to the carpet and have the other bit riveted to the mat?

Hmm like the domes on a jacket? That could definitely work.

My floor mats came with a metal stay that bolts to the floor and then goes into the mat to stop them sliding.

Yeah I've seen some with the metal ring in them. That would be ideal, but mine don't have that :?.

I replaced mine with 'SHAGPILE' waterproof bathmats. They look funky and dont slide around.

I replaced mine with exterior marine carpet .... looks good, doesn't slip and is stain resistant. cost me something like $20 for both sides with some left over.

I fitted some from MX5 Mart and have been very pleased with them.

They completely fill the floor pan area and are stiff enough that they dont move.

If I didn't have the fancy OEM mats with the metal badge in them I'd look at replacing. But I don't want to ditch the bling .
