I believe these are the same guys that did the infamous blockhouse bay thefts.

Thank you all for your kind words.

I haven't heard anything from the Police as of yet, but it'll probably take some time.

As for the story of that house, apparently the home owners were on holiday while their daugther was staying at another address in west Auckland, she claim to know nothing of this. She told police on the phone that she received a text from a friend saying there was a wreaked car in her backyard.... right..

As for my opinion, the car was very likely to be stripped at that location, all the unwanted parts (some interior trim, cut up bumpers, carpets) are placed in the backyard... in piles so they weren't dumped in a hurry, they were placed in sperate locations.

Also the car can't of just been dumped and flipped at that location, there were used/finished cutting disc etc that were placed on top of the car, well whats left of it anyways :( . Also that house must have played a part in the process of stripping this car, i mean where else can they get electricity to power their angle grinders etc... and the hardtop was placed neatly against the garden shed... one of the most expensive parts of the car, i am sure they were planning to come back for these, they wouldn't just forgo the hardtop if they took everything else.

As for the tag, what can i do with this information? should i pass this on to the Police? or is there some way to find these people?

As for building another Jellybean.... definately. Hopefully i'll have support from you guys, mentally at least :)

And yes it'll definately have some sort of tracking device and insurance

Keep a eye on Trademe, these morons may try to sell them there.

Arsoles that do this need there fingers broken for starters.

You cant buy any hardtop parts from Mazda so your rear clips may be hard to find. They must have broken them out of the hardtp as there molded in.

Ive seen enough vandalised, stolen cars wrecked after having parts stolen of them.I can never understand how people feel the need to completly wreck something after youve flogged off it what you want.I guess thats society these days.....

I have a Blue 1989 very similar to yours. This made me truly sick and I would be devastated if it were my car...so I really feel your loss.
I spoke to a cop friend of mine today based at Henderson and he has never heard of that crew before...
And you mention the Avondale area. Looking at the photos (And the power pylons...as I believe most of the West has underground power), using my powers of deduction, I would say it was the Rosebank Road area. (Possibly near Riversdale Road).

That really sucks man :(

Even IF you find what the tag is (looks like 808 to me) AND find out who is in that 'crew' what evidence do you have that those people are even remotely involved? The answer is unfortunately none. Not enough to warrant looking into, and certainly not enough to affect an arrest and interview.

Most likely the tag arrived by way of a young kid who had nothing to do with the theft and was just doing it for the cool factor.

The chances of anyone getting put away for this are nil unless they actually admit to it. Sorry man :(

The police have a pretty good starting point at the owners of the property, or their daughter. It's not like the car was found dumped anonymously in a street.

No guarantee that a prosecution is possible, but they have some investigative starting point.

Those look like real ones, confusing pics with the hardtop red then black. Might be worth a look? Probably not them but more likely someone bought them off the person...
