Clunking noise from rear during right turns

Post by authentic » Tue Apr 23, 2013 8:32 pm

As the title says. Only happens at low speeds <50kph, also while reversing to the right.

Is this a CV joint issue? Not too familiar with this area of the car. Cheers

See if you can get on a hoist and if the noise is there with no load on the wheels,Check any joints,Bolts, brake calipers,Anything that might work loose,Otherwise in the diff :(
Here to help with any needs for your beloved MX5/Roadster.

Well, I figured it out.

With the new header having a flex pipe, it allows the exhaust to move more on the hangers, and the exhaust tip bangs against the subframe during right turns.

Time to buy some more solid hangers.

Cheers for the help anyway brownie

I guess its a combination of ancient rubber hangers and a rather large muffler at the back.

Yeah man, big relief.

I was secretly hoping that it might have been the diff, then it would give me an excuse to do a torsen swap. But thats $400+ that I don't need to spend just yet.
