So today i decided to remake my power steering reservoir in stainless instead of the old one in mild steel.
I gave the rack a complete flush out using 3 liters of fluid. man the old fluid that came out was yuk.
now the problem.
WHen i turn the wheel to the very limits of travel the power steering pump stalls and the belt slips. So either its a simple belt readjust or maybe the pressure bypass valve isnt opening and its stalling the pump??
any ideas?
( oh and after all that maintenance and feeling good about my deeds, i started the car and ONE lifter starts ticking like a mofo and wont stop! that'll teach me for doing something nice to the car.)

Its pretty easy. Just remove the reservoir and stick a funnel in the larger intake pipe. And connect a bit of garden hose to the other one and put hose into waste container. Fill funnel and run engine while turning wheel left to right. You will need a handy helper to pour into funnel as it gets sucked up pretty quick. Then reconnect reservoir and top up. Repeat the left right snd your done. Recheck level in morning.
