Petrol Fumes
I am still getting petrol fumes in the cabin even though I am sure I have blocked/plugged up any possible point that it can come in,
Now I am thinking that there is something wrong somewhere (just for a change) after the conversion. There is a strong petrol in the boot when I open that up, and to be honest I wouldn't have a clue whether it is normal or not (I am guessing not) for an early NA to have this.
Any one got any comments on this.
The fuel pump has been replaced/upgraded to feed the best so now just wondering there is something to do with seal on top of the tank?

Is this for the LS1 Donovan?Snapfrozen wrote:Depending on the model of your car, the charcoal canister can cause it. Might pay to trace the hard lines that you block off and see if theyre venting somewhere like the boot, or if one of the venting lines has come loose?

Check the valve in the top of the tank that is normally connected to the charcoal cannister. If the hose has been removed it may be leaking a bit. When I removed the one from the TG I replaced it wih a blank aly plate and and new cork gasket and used Loctite 567 on all the screw threads. Petrol will find its way through unsealed screw threads even if you think they are tight.

Well the not driving it isn't a problem, It's usually 2 or 3 weeks off the road after a track day fixing all the things I broke on itold scrubber wrote:petrol and lpg fumes are the most volitile around, below 7% wont ignite, above 70% is saturation wont ignite, all you need is a stray spark and boom, personally i would not drive the car untill i fixed it real fast .

the vent for the tank is there for a reason.
petrol sloshing around in a tank creates vapour that needs to be released.
without it your tank is a sealed system that just keeps building pressure. Reconnect your vapour recovery canister and port it intto the inlet manifold.

Did you have your charcoal canister removed by the crowd that did most of your mods? if so they probably blocked it off.
Mine doesnt have the charcoal cannister anymore but is still vented at the the engine bay similar to how it was from factory.

Yes, the place that did the engine conversion removed the charcol canister and would have blocked that line.WideOpenThrottle wrote:Did you have your charcoal canister removed by the crowd that did most of your mods? if so they probably blocked it off.
