Fake wheels are worseBwarp wrote:Im not sure why people run rip off replica products when it comes to safety features like a seat.
Wheels are not such a big deal, but seats is kinda crazy.
You get what you pay for at the end of the day.
I've seen fake wheels that the centres have ripped clean from the barrels
Why are you removing the lower arms?Bwarp wrote:Also - tonight I shall be having another go at removing the lower arm bolts.... Wish me luck.
Didn't you inspect them before you paid the money over? There's no shortage of guides online of how to spot fakes, but it's shit to hear you got rippedchris wrote:They were advertised as genuine brides. I paid genuine prices. from a dude off Trademe. NEVER AGAIN

I did inspect them - and to me (inexperienced in seats) they looked good.Get them the next day. Show a friend and bam. I needed more proof, email the photos off to a few companies and yup! Fake Brides. Yayy!Didn't you inspect them before you paid the money over? There's no shortage of guides online of how to spot fakes, but it's shit to hear you got ripped
Now the dude is telling me it's not his fault etc. well he bloody well advertised them as genuine brides. I can see this getting messy haha[/quote]

Ah, if you're checking bushings, yeah.Bwarp wrote:Oh and im removing the bolts from lower arms so I can A) check out what sorta nick the bushes are in, and B) fit adjusties. Double wishbone bs makes it difficult to remove a strut.
Just installing adjusties is a piece of piss, though! Upper shock (they're not struts!) bolts, lower shock/lower arm bolt, front swaybar mount bolts and front upper arm long bolt removed, kick the hub/arms down and out with the old, in with the new! Rears are even easier as you can just kick the hub/arms down and remove the shock without having to disconnect the upper arm.
If they were advertised as genuine then you've got a case. Assuming they're in the condition as they were bought, you should be getting your money back.chris wrote:Now the dude is telling me it's not his fault etc. well he bloody well advertised them as genuine brides. In the exact condition. The dude is just being a total jerkoff. If they were advertised as genuine then you've got a case. Assuming they're in the condition as they were bought, you should be getting your money back.
I cocked up. I was to excited to get them. I offered 1400, so he took them off trademe (Big mistake if you are the buyer) and I paid him 1400 cash not through Trademe. Now all I have is a Bank statement saying I withdrew this much for this reason...

Ah bugger, no receipt I guess
I've found something interesting on the FM website. I want to attempt to put in continuous welds overtop of the spot welds around the chassis. Anyone want to let me use their welding kit and show me how to use it (ie do 99% of it for me
)? Did some welding once upon a time for my engineering course but I was pretty incompetent then and would be even worse now, the only thing I got out of it was how to identify a good weld and a bad weld.

I guess this makes sense if you're planning to strip the car and and respray it right?

I've heard nothing but very positive things about it would be keen to do mine but im incompetent also so I might save up and get a pro to do it
That should be more than enough basis for a charge of obtaining by deception. If I were in your shoes I would advise him that you want your money back or you'll go to the police on the obtaining by deception.chris wrote:Just got confirmation from the place he apparently brought the seats from and guess what. He never did. He faked the receipt. grrrr
And then I'd probably go to the police anyway to make sure there's some record of this transaction in case he tries it again.
Just found some posts on oldschool from James giving him a rev up about it. Hahahah James, good character!
