turns out the cop was considering getting an MX5 for his wife and was simply wanting to ask some questions about the car
I wouldn't have minded that but better than a ticket

yeah, he signaled me down from behind with his normal car horn (instead of siren/lights) which I thought was odd. I will admit that my car looks boy-racer'ish so i was expecting a check over or something like that. Instead he explained his interest and I gave my recommendations and showed him the in's and outs of my pride and joy :P

He was quite a nice guy and I suspect that his family will be proud owners of an MX5 at some point in the future.

I guess you didn't point him towards the forums? And hint that they shouldn't check my car to thoroughly for the next couple of months

NB before and after.

Bought this last week, to be dismantled.
X president of the MX5 clubs car.
He sold it to a couple of young guys and it ended up like this a month later.
1 of them was learning to drive......looks like the classic off the road sideways, dig in and over she goes a few times.
Testimony to the strength of the car is they both walked away.
Its mechanicals will live on in a Exocet kit car.

I don't know of this helps at all, but that spoiler is one of the carbon miata spoilers.

Definately not carbon miata. The edges are too round

Yeah I'm leaning towards it being a project-g wing.

After seeing these cars, this is exactly why I'll never be selling my car after getting my hands on some very good items
