the electrical gremlins continue on Slydit this week.
decided to take it to work on thursday and stopped for a coffee...bloody car wouldnt turn over outside the cafe. I had to push start it. Stripped and cleaned the starter and found nothing obvious wrong with it. seems ok now.
then last night driving home, one of the headlights blew....
oh and have seem to have lost my screw on factory aerial.
cant find it anywhere.
jeez so over it.

Busy week - dynoed the car last week - went well once we leaned it up so it wasn't blowing black smoke. Not as much power as expected but runs sweet now. Then found the rear CV boots had ripped and grease everywhere. Might be something to do with them rubbing on the shox! Replacementy boots fitted - too big. got smaller boots fitted.
Found suspension bushes shagged on RHS rear. Ordered new parts only to find the part number I was given was for the top inner - not bottom outer. Made to fit with shims etc as had to get a warrant for this weekend. Bloody expensive at $200 for 4 bushes but ordered a full set of Energy bushes from the States for $300 including freight.
Bad clunk in drivetrain after replacing bushes, axles on way to warrant. Later found the prop shaft was loose. Day after warrant speedo cable broke.
Today went to Chertsey for Ashburton Car Club sStannding and Flying event. Slowest there but got a 13.8 for the 1/4 and did a couple of runs at 242km/hr (150 mph). You don't need powersteering at that speed - bit wandery with a good cross wind blowing!
Found the rear CVs had thrown all their grease but the boots and clips were intact - maybe centrifuged it out. Gave up in the end when the clutch started slipping badly.
Car now resting in the garage while I make plans for new clutch, more boost, better exhaust and probably a new body!

Check your engine earth bro. It can cause issues like you've described.SLYDIT wrote:the electrical gremlins continue on Slydit this week.

Kierans right 165s are great! Used them at Meremere yesterday.

Clutch took a hammering but good fun, did nearly 60km of drifting (Car also hit 200,000Km while sideways!) used quater of a tank and maybe a mm off the new tyres.

First thing I checked for. Make sure my wheel nuts are torqued correctly before any drive now.Euen wrote:Just make sure you have still got plenty of thread engagement on your wheel nuts.chris wrote:Also just got some 5mm spacers :3
Safety first.
Hmmmm, getting my cert is going to be difficult. Had a clever idea. I have a mate with a motorsport license. What I am thinking is I register the car in his name, he takes it for the cert. then reregister it back in my name?

Why can't you just get an alignment done before and after, that's all I did. Before I do a track day, get a setup for the track, and then dial it back a bit for the road afterwards so I don't chew out my tyres. I also can't get -3 out of my camber either, but the again mines not quite as low as yours when I have it on the road.

I wont get it certed at the height it is :/ and after talking to the guys that did the alignment I will basically have to have the coilovers wound right the way up just to get within the OE tolerances for camber >.< this law is killing me

Authority card, not motorsport licence. Requires you to attend 2 motorsport sanctioned events per year just to get a WoF. I would recommend thinking twice about thischris wrote:Because apparently having a motorsport license allows you to have more camber, which is what I need as I cant get any less than -3.

Was talking to Angreal on facebook last night about the major issue with the cert process.
Somehow it is legal for me to put lowering springs in my car and run -2.3 degrees camber, however, if I decide to put in more expensive suspension such as coilovers I can't have more than -1.3 what. the. hell.
Please please please help me understand how the hell this even happens -.-

Stance/flush culture. Retards running silly amounts of camber to get their wheels herrafrush-stanced with no regard to handling characteristic or tyre wear, prompting an annoyingly arbitrary and knee-jerk reaction from LVVTA.chris wrote:Please please please help me understand how the hell this even happens -.-
See "arbitrary knee-jerk reaction".chris wrote:I understand the camber law, what I don't understand is how lowering springs essentially give you unlimited camber.
Basically they didn't put that much thought into it.
Or do you mean how fitting lowering springs can actually result in increased negative camber?
