Finished building a sub box, it hasn't blown apart yet so pretty stoked with that. Doesn't look to pretty atm but it sort of fits in the corner of the boot. will carpet it and fine tune the fitting but overall happy so far, would be better suited to an 8" sub compared to the 10 however. Also needs a bit of soundproofing.

Replaced the top insulator and turret seal on my 6 speed gearbox- Didn't replace the bushes but gave them a good clean out (there was some grit in there since both seals were split) and a re-grease. It's made a heap of difference to shift quality! Nice and 'snick-snick' where before there was a bit of hesitation sometimes, especially when cold.

what did i do?
I fanged the shit out of Slydit up to whangamata and back. man i love that road.
came to the conclusion that my gearbox really is on its way out and i need an alignment...and a mofo roll bar.
punching the throttle in second gear to rocket past some sunday driver is just so much fun.

That really is an awesome MX5 road aye. Specially if theres not much traffic about.

tonight.

It's still low. But at least this way it looks cool, handles fairly well and doesnt scrape everywhere.

Plus my springs are captive without keeper springs.

Just finished my supercharger install. No massive problems. I did kill one supercahrger belt but I think I did not have it tight enough. Put a new one on today and it seems to be much better, I had to do it quite tight. Only been for two drives but I love it!!!!!!

The car feels MUCH more responsive and the power comes in about 3000rpm and is kicking by 3800rpm. I have only taken it to about 6000rpm untill I fully sort the belt and it is making just over 5psi, so it should mabe 6-7psi at full song.

Cant wait for my first REAL drive........may take a spare supercharger belt in the boot for a little while just in case :lol:

I carry a spare belt all the time. Haven't needed it yet thou.

1st drive, just a guess. have not given it a real bootfull from idle as so new, i,m sure it comes in earlier with a bit more pedal.

Okay, serious question.. Hypothetical question.. At the moment anyway.

In theory bucket seats in our cars do NOT need to be certified granted they are on the factory mounting holes. Correct?

So if I were to go get a cert for my adjusties with the stock seats, put in my bucket seats after the cert, would my car still be legal?

I see no reason as to why it would be illegal...

The wording I've been told is "if it didn't come out of he factory with it (or without it), then it needs to be cert'd"

Eg : if your car came out of the factory with power steering and your pulled it off, then you would need a cert.
That's the word from an extreme powertripping inspector guy...
Bucket seats arnt like swapping the steering wheel, they are obviously not stock. Always the chance you could get done by a cop on a bad day...

Hmmmmm. I think I might risk it. Carry around pieces of paper in the glove box referring to the factory mounting points :)

the seat is either an OE (original equipment that is, factory) seat from another vehicle, or of a known and reputable aftermarket brand; and

— the seat is fitted to unmodified OE seat anchorages; and

— the anchorage or operation of seatbelts is not affected; and

— 
the relationship between seat, seat occupant and location of the seatbelt anchorages is not affected; and

— 

the vehicle is not fitted with airbags in that seating position.

If they don’t meet all of these standards, however, the vehicle will require LVV certification."

Yeah you'd get away with it.

same thing I do with my tyres WOF station says the tyres are to small so I have the manufacturers spec sheet in the glove box

My federals are 165/55R15 and have a max manufacturer recommended width of 6J and dropped my car 10mm from my 195/50s but have plenty of grip
