Finally got a chance to do some work on the car.
Didnt take many photos of making the arms longer cos im useless, but heres a quick after pic.

This is with 15mm added.
This meant i had a lot less clearance at the guard, well, the guard sat on top of the tire.
so:

Borrowed a friends guard roller to pull the guards out further than they were before.

This wasnt enough,Still needed more pulling, I didnt want to roll the lips out and flat like i had seen some done before, but due to the second skin in the rear guards, i had to roll them out a bit.
Eventually got them out like this, doesnt look too bad, and clears everywhere, up to about 40mm travel.

and a couple pics of my new more vertical wheels, havent been aligned yet, and the lobe bolts are about centred, so plenty of room to go either way.

So now i need to save for some tires to do some testing, the boost will be coming up slightly, to make up for the extra grip i will have.
Have also cut muffler off. car sounds a bit like a tractor, so will probably find a small free flowing muffler/resonator to put on

Finally got around to looking at my exhaust. Decided I would run a muffler, but not much of one,
I went to coby mufflers and brought this little 10 inch muffler, its a straight through one, with bugger all packing or anything.
I slipped it off and on when the car was running, didn't really make it any quieter, just a little deeper sounding, and lost some of the tinny sound when revving.

Just did the tip like it used to be, nice and subtle.

I have booked and paid for my next drift day. Hampton Downs on the 5th January.
Just need to save for some tires, a wheel alignment, and some gas, and I'm good to go.

Managed to sort a few ends on the car this last week,
Got 6 new tires. I'm hoping this will last me a full drift day.
Loaded the car up

And went in for a wheel alignment.
Have set the rear camber at about -0.5 degrees. Should give me plenty more grip than before, and definitely more even tire wear.
Filled the car up with a tank of bp's finest. And now it's ready to go.

I still need to go for another drive to adjust my boost level. I'm still running about 9 psi, but want to take it up to about 12.

Hey man, just saw your post. Yea, this Saturday, 5th.
Gave the car a quick was and checked over a few things yesterday.
Adjusted the boost up to about 12 psi. Felt good:D Can't wait to give it a go on the track.
So I'm all set for Saturday. Just have to work the next 2 days first
If anyones going to be at hamptons on Saturday, feel free to come have a yarn, and jump in for a ride.

About time I did a wrap up of the day at Hamptons.
Weather was perfect, hot and sunny all day long.
got there nice and early, entered into the intermediate group (d2)
was quite a while before the cars got out there for the first time, but good things take time.
Now unfortunately im really bad at remembering to turn my camera on.
But anyway, first session went well, didnt take me too long to get the hang of things, car felt really fast with the extra grip,
When i used to kick the clutch in 4th, the car would just bag the rear tyres and the rear woud kick out.
Now the car actually launches forward at the same time, and picks up some good speed. It was lucky that i had turned the boost up to 12psi or it wouldnt have kept them spinning.
car didnt give any issues, stayed at running temp, was good.
second session was much the same, this clip is from the second session.
http://youtu.be/hwA5GbYxyGE
My main goal for the day, was to try to drift the whole drifting section(from turn 2 till the barrel 51 corner) without gripping up.
I had figured out how to drift the two hairpins individually fine, But because of the distance between these two corners, i had to decide to either leave the car in 3rd off the first hairpin, and go left to right 3 times and throw it straight into the second hairpin. this was slow.
the other way was to hit 4th gear out of the 1st hairpin, and only got left to right twice down the straight, and then straight into the second hairpin. this was nice and fast, but easier said than done, i didnt really get it right untill the end of the day.
Heres 2 more videos from the day.

http://youtu.be/2aY0Yleu7Qc
That last video Has Daniel (Siren676) in the car with me, good to meet you man, Im sure the boost bug is biting now, haha
Also had my Wife/Daughter come see me drift for the first time which was cool, she took a few snaps with the camera too.(below)
Car was wearing tires much more evenly with less camber, and i got 3 full sessions from the first pair, and they had only just started to delaminate the top layer,
Only used 4 tires over the whole day, took 2 brand new tires home with me
second to last session of the day I took out my mate Jake, who competes in D1nz Pro-Am, and is currently on second place in the championship.
He had lots of tips and advice which was good, mostly about concentrating on where I am pointing the car, which in turn setup my lines much better for the whole section.
Car went awesome the whole day, never let me down, Temps stayed spot on all day, used a full tank of gas though, haha,
Won a prize at the end of the day, The organiser Drew gave it to me as I was his favourite car of the day
So i have 4 litres of semi-synthetic penrite oil to give it a birthday before the next day.
Heres some pics, and some shorter vids, the ones above are a little long probably

Update time.
Havent done alot with the car over the last few months, had another baby so have been too busy.
Booked in my next track day, 14th April at taupo track 3.
Went a brought some more tires, taking down 6 brand new 195/50/15s
Car was looking a bit tired after all the abuse it had. gave it a wash, needed to scotch brite the whole car to get the rubber off that i had left on for ages.
My brother offered me some car paint he brought for a project a while back and never used for free.
so have been trying to tidy up some of the rougher parts of the car.

i have niether the patience or finesse required to do body work on a car.
Also i have a theory that the nicer i make it look, the sooner i will crash it, so im keeping it a bit rough,
the front bumper was a nightmare, should have just got a new one due to the layers and layers of cracked paint etc. also should have just got 2 new guards and rolled them, my fronts are still nowhere near the shape that mazda intended.
Anyway, tomorrow im taking it in to my brothers mates paint booth, where I will give painting a go, Setting my expectations really low so I cant be disappointed, haha.
Will upload some more pics of how it comes out in the next few days

I would be keen but working that weekend, I might just come to Taupo some time and give it a go.last_resort14 wrote:Come down to taupo with me.
Track 3 is all good for low power, my mate can do the section in his rb20e powered r32 sedan.
Meremere is ok, just like to have a course with apexs to aim for and a bit more variation in corners,
Yea I run 8/6kg springs,
Yeah Royce goes pretty hard.
Edit: What do you run sways wise?

Wont put too much writing down this time, a picture tells 1000 words.

Easter monday morning, took the car into my brothers mates paint shop. got into masking everything like crazy. probably spent just as much time masking as i put into the body prep work
Anyway, after that i got thrown in there and a gun given to me, so threw some paint down.
seemed ok. the owner of the shop came in at the end and layed a coat over top of everything, to cover my mistakes, haha.
Anyway, assembled the car over next few days, finally got a chance to give it a quick wash today, so heres a few pics.
