Maybe, have see what the dyno tune comes back as it saying. The engine stock is supposed to be 285kw, but I imagine the headers on it now are a bit more restrictive, along with the exhaust system, and intake, so no even sure whether after it is running right whether it will be more or less than the original rating, should find out in the next couple of days I guess.WideOpenThrottle wrote:Crikey! at 1166kgs you must have a power to weight ratio that most of us can only dream about!
Here is a clip of it running, pretty boring really, just a walk around, start her up, and peek under the bonnet. Hopefully some vid's coming with a bit more action in them

98 NB Evolution Orange
Is going to be on the track at Hamptons this Saturday, god do I hope that the rain forecast for Sunday doesn't arrive a day early.
Then at the track at Taupo the following weekend on the 21st, will be setup to take passengers in that session if anyone is down that way.
Will try and get some video footage from one or both of them, haven't got an in car camera, so might just have to use my phone mounted to the dash.

I shall see you there then! I will either be in the control tower or pit lane depending, probably the control tower as Tony wants to take me out in his for a run haDonovan wrote:Is going to be on the track at Hamptons this Saturday, god do I hope that the rain forecast for Sunday doesn't arrive a day early.

Be interesting to see who's is faster

He will be at the mo, I will be taking it pretty easy, just trying to bed things in and checking it all over. He has done heaps of laps in his, so his car is a lot more sorted than mine at the moment, I have a lot of tinkering to do. I should dust him in a straight line tho.Born_disturbed wrote:I shall see you there then! After being away for 3 days, got my car back again today, and the list of problems continue.
As I thought, down on power over the standard output, so only running about 270kw at the moment. I need to put a heat shield to the side of the air filter, which I already knew I had to, I just have run out of time now before going to Hamptons. They saw temps of over 60 degrees going in there. For some reason it still isn't idling right, especially not cold, and that is using a couple of different ECU's. Apparently the flow on from that is that sometimes the air/fuel mixtures can go all up the wack.
The oxygen sensors haven't been put in, so that needs to be done. The throttle cable was only allowing it to run at 3/4 throttle at full noise, so that has been fixed up so the taps are all the way open when the pedal is to the metal.
Plan is to do Hamptons and Taupo the way it is running at the moment, and then she will go back out to Protune for a bit of an extended stay to try and get some things fixed up.
The story continues, sigh.

Have done Hamptons today, engine temp ok, but a few other things. First session out was a bit hairy, back end getting a bit light under braking and if I changed down while braking, it would just step out, also brakes would go spongy after 3 or 4 laps.
Cranked up the dampers on the front, and that helped a lot with the back end stepping out under brakes/change down, but still going spongy after a few laps, to the point that I got red flagged because apparently my brakes where on fire, personally I think the marshal was over reacting a bit.
Fasted time for the day when I had some sort of braking ability, was a 1:21. I reckon once the brakes are sorted, should drop 2 or 3 seconds off that time, as even in the fastest times, I was braking way early.
Power steering also getting pretty hot, but have noticed that when they put it in, the haven't got the cooling tube that runs in front of the radiator, so I guess I will have to put that in.
Have put the link to the in car vid on youtube in that what you have done this weekend
But after all that, engine temp seemed fine, mind you, wouldn't want to try the same thing on a hot day.
Will try better pads in the front for Taupo, and put a high temp brake fluid in there, as I have no idea that they put back in when the car went back together. Oh, and I suppose some ducting to the brakes, but not sure if I am going to get that in before Taupo.

Bigger brakes, Wilwood 6 pots on 280mm rotors and 273mm rotors at the rear, but will most likely be changing these to 310mm, and moving the 280mm rotors to the rear and running the bigger calipers off the later model NB RS
Pretty sure the exhaust isn't that close to the brake lines, but will jack it up and have a look under there.

You shouldn't be having any problems at all with those brakes on that weight of car. I'd say there's another issue underlying there. Could be a ducting issue but I'm not so sure.
Spongy pedal as in overheated pads, or spongy as in boiling fluid?
I know a mate got some stock pads from Cardwells I think it was for his Willwoods and found them crap as, like, worse than the stock single pot brakes kind of bad.

Cool sunroof bro...
Might be the pad material or fluid not being up to the task, or maybe your wheels are quite 'closed' and not allowing much air to circulate around?
Car looked to be going really well, nice smooth driving! I think youre right about you having to brake early, and that will have made the brake heating worse as you're on the brakes for more of the lap.
Shame that Porsche wouldn't get out the way!

From chatting to everyone, pretty sure it is the pads, suppose it is a bit of a give away since they caught on fire, and I wasn't as hard on them as I usually am.
Will sort out a new set of pads for the front, don't think I will worry too much about the rears, as I will try and get the bigger callipers on the rears which will be running the standard pad. Will most likely do the brake fluid as well, since I have no idea what went in there. Anyone got suggestions on a good hi temp fluid, and where from. Last one I put in the car was from Repco, can't remember what it was, will have to dig out the bottle.
Also thinking that I might have to do the oil in the diff, was talking to Growler today, and during the converstion, that towards the end of the laps, the inside wheel was starting to spin occasionally out of the corner, I am running a Holden 3.1 Viscous LSD, and would have to assume the oil has most likely never been changed in that, so anyone got any ideas on that one to use?
