Yeah they accepted the liability without realizing there was any liability for it in the first place lolMr. Shine wrote:To some extent, yes. But considering that they certainly used to take that liability on their shoulders and certify obviously retardedly cambered wheel settings, it's stupid that suddenly they won't at all, even if they're just outside the guidelines and are obviously safe and/or for a specific purpose.chris wrote:Correct ^ However, the certifiers don't want that liability on their shoulders (understandably)
I'd be hopeful that they soften up with time, but I don't plan on sacking any car of mine again so probably not relevant to me
Going for a cert soon...

If that were the case they'd have to have been certifying cars as safe to operate without realising they were certifying cars as being safe.chris wrote:Yeah they accepted the liability without realizing there was any liability for it in the first place lol
The camber change was a poorly-conceived knee-jerk reaction.

Front camber adjustment isn't an issue I don't think, only the rear. 290mm with 195/45/r15's is the lowest that the cert guy could get my car to get it within tolerance. If you have fatter tires, you might be able to get away with slightly more camber as long as you have a good contact patch between tire and ground.
Do you have pictures of those heights?
Just to get.an idea.
Decided today to run 195/45,
Rear will be fine for adjustment now.
So,
So,
You're saying as Long as its reasonable and has some sort of contact patch,
It'll be ok?
Hoping to go for cert mid / end of September,
And trying to get everything covered to minimize headaches and time wasting

The certifier said to me that the only way to really go outside the camber tolerances is if the car's tires had a flat contact patch. In hindsight it doesn't really make sense because more camber=less contact. With 195/45 stretched on an 8" you aren't going to achieve that anyway.
Heres what mine looked like at the certed height:

I've since dropped it down to a better height, which sits just outside the 5% allowance on the plate but oh well. At least the parts are certified.

Tell him he needs to do his math again as I say hes wrong
