New LED tail lights

Post by ryanhorton1973 » Fri May 24, 2013 7:29 pm

One of my new rear tail lights showed up from its long journey (ordered from a company in Germany then shipped to the UK and forwarded on to NZ and when they arrived they are made in Thailand ) Not sure where the other one is in the world but hopefully it will show up soon with the LED brake light I also ordered. Simple to fit but I have a slight issue where the indicator bulb does not line up with the centre of the clear lens. Does anyone know where I can get an angled bulb holder I have searched on the Internet with no joy. Thanks for any help if someone somewhere has a solution to this issue. I also meant to post this in the whats arrived for your roadster section and messed up sorry :)

Are you sure its not your indicator bulb...there are two types of orange ones and they have the locator pins in slightly different places on the shaft!

No it is not the bulb. I have attached a picture to try and show what I mean.

Is the clear bulb used as an example?...thought they needed to be orange for WOF.
Otherwise the bulb might be Euro specific!

Yep the clear bulb is my current indicator bulb. Only using it to show what I meant by the odd angle and it is being replaced by amber LEDs and a ballast resistor. I guess I will have to buy a straight bulb holder and try to make an angled holder.

After a few hours with my next door neighbours multi tool and spending $10 on some bulb holders from a Mazda dismantler I have got my light in and working on one side (all LEDs now!) Have posted up some pictures to show the difference. When the other light arrives from the UK I will do a guide to show others if they end up buying the same light and get the same issue of a misaligned bulb.

LEDs in my reverse lights is one of the most useful mods I've done so far.

I've almost got headlight brightness out the back now :D
