What fluids to use?
Will be my first time servicing my NA6C. Done approx 200k and engine has great compression. I've got the oil sorted and am planning on using a k and n oil filter, but what diff and gearbox fluids should I use? I drive the car hard on the road and she only gets driven on weekends, won't see any track work on this service but MIGHT see a few autocrosses. Glad and a good condition 5 speed. Should I be replacing the boot on top of the shifter or only if it shows signs of wear?

For the turret I used a bottle I found at Repco that said turret oil :p um gearbox and diff I just let the workshop do those because I couldn't get under the car easily although when I'm finished I'll be using only the OS Giken diff stuff.Snapfrozen wrote:What brand fluids would you use? Knew my Honda backwards but can't find much good info on diff and gearbox fluids. Turret just takes normal gearbox oil?
Need a 6 speed to swap into my car also but no idea what fluid to use... I'll leave that for my mechanic to do when he swaps the diff internals.

For your daily driver then normal gearbox oil from say BNT should suffice...and if you have a LSD then get that oil for the diff.Snapfrozen wrote:What brand fluids would you use? Knew my Honda backwards but can't find much good info on diff and gearbox fluids. Turret just takes normal gearbox oil?

Always do. Idles until the needle moves to about 1/4 then don't take her past 3000rpm until the needle is at 1/2. It doesn't move from there. Thanks for the recommendation, how pricey was the TRD stuff?Angreal wrote:Just give car time to warm up first is all I can say...Snapfrozen wrote:Does it matter that I drive it like ita stolen?

$45, you only need 1L. Cheaper than Cusco or Redline.Snapfrozen wrote:Always do. Idles until the needle moves to about 1/4 then don't take her past 3000rpm until the needle is at 1/2.
