Link to the discussion? I honestly think they're fairly expensive, but then I don't know what MX5 seats usually go for. My current drivers seat has a metal hook sticking out right where the base of my spine is.Angreal wrote:Haha don't get them started on those seats. There has been much discussion on those when they were up on trademe a month ago
I have some cushion thing that gets rid of that problem, but not too keen on having that behind me if I have a crash. Also my head sticks above the headrest, the top of the headrest is where my neck is.

I have a similar problem where the top of the seat is too low to be of any use to be in the event of being rear ended.Skilfil wrote:My current drivers seat has a metal hook sticking out right where the base of my spine is.

Don't forget that is $375 not including GST!
At 6 3" my head is at the same height as my roll bar!
A shame really coz that would make it a style bar if it doesn't protect you right?
But I have similar views about Ross's service and business style as others on the forum, a bloody shame coz I'd like those seats and more importantly so would the wife... thank god she doesn't know about them!

I would be keen to find a way to lower the stock seat as im 6'5" and my knees are hitting the dash/head on the roof.tomtikki wrote:Don't forget that is $375 not including GST!

I'll just have to grab a new drivers NA seat sometime and do a foamectomy. Be interesting as I've never driven one with it done.

My issue is the dash and my knees smashing it, Im thinking about getting a thicker steering wheel spacer as I dont want to mod my seats they are nice and comfortable.Mad Kiwi wrote:Furai, a foamectomy AND a 320mm steering wheel in a D shape will go a big way to giving you more room.
You should have a drive of my car when it is back running. It is very comfortable for me now (although I am only 6'1").

I'm 2m or 6.6. I did the foamectomy, best thing ever. Still very comfortable, maybe more so with a bit more lateral support. I added a 320mm wheel which helped get hands past my legs but I can't see all of my dash.Mad Kiwi wrote:Furai, a foamectomy AND a 320mm steering wheel in a D shape will go a big way to giving you more room.

The foamectomy, do it. Highly recommend it.
Kieran/Furai, I highly recommend the foamectomy. I thought it'd be mad uncomfortable, but it's actually nicer than standard imo. Sit lower in the car and it holds you in. You sit in the seat rather than on the seat.
Do it brah.
Do it brah.
