Just got a 98' 1.8 gold manual MX5. I'm very happy with it, the handling is just insane! The reviews didnt lie.
Its just right for the windy roads that live on.
I might get some pics up.

Congrats Westie. You got the right colour too. Just like the Olympics, Gold comes first....
You will find that you take the long way when you are going somewhere because getting there is half the fun.
Enjoy it when the weather comes right.

I used to live in Huia, out west. My MX5 made the commute every day go from boring to something I would look forward to

Ah I live out on the way to Piha (near the info centre) so I get a good drive into work as well. Much better in the dry though

I drive on Huia Road every day to work as well and had the same result. Huia Road really makes you appreciate a well handling car aye! I think its windier than Scenic drive..
I had some pics but cant post yet.

I don't know about Huia being windier than Scenic; Scenic is definitely far sharper in some parts which is why I love it, but Huia is a far more forgiving and more relaxed drive, so I prefer it for casual late night drives when I just want to get out and am not too concerned about going for a proper hoon

Yea that's Whatipu Road, just past Huia
I used to live just down the from that photo, that's the whole reason I decided to get my MX5, for those lovely twisty roads. I live in the city now and it sucks

Is there (or was there) a dairy near those wooden bollards where you parked up? It reminds me of my childhood for some reason.

Nah not there, on the other side of the bay there is though. You are probably thinking of Laingholm
