Hey guys, my mirrors are a bit droopy and weak (and not happy to be tightened as a previous owner has modified the way they're attached to the bases) so I'm considering getting a set of the racing mirrors from Mx-5 Mart.
Just wondering if anyone's had them before and how good they are. Are they fairly sturdy, good quality? No issues with floppiness etc.?
Cheers

Nothing special or fancy, but relatively inexpensive replacements. I'm just concerned about how sturdy the ball socket joint thingies are, as my mirrors only last a couple of months each time they're tightened up because of that darn PO!

Taryn Croucher wrote:it was a freakin mission to get them on! I actually don't like them, I would recommend he pay more to get something better. They don't really twist/adjust correctly, and it is really difficult to get them to the right angle which is so annoying. we had to drill new holes and the old holes are still there so they just have screws in them, you don't really notice unless you are really fussy I do like the look of them over the factory mirrors though. I found them off trademe a while ago, have a look on there?
this is what Tarryn says about hers
not sure if Rosses are any different

Cheers for that, the ones Ross has seem to be direct fits, though I know there are similar ones out there that are generic and mileage may vary. Think I'll give Ross a call or an email and find out what the story is.
My mirrors now are a bitch to get at the right angle anyway because I have to tighten them up so much to get them to hold in place, so as long as these stay in place one set up then I probably won't be complaining
Alternatively might hold out for a set of factory replacements I have my eye on though, but thanks for the forwarded feedback sprsta

Oh, not mine. The previous owner had munched the internals. I ended up getting some factory replacements and just replaced the bolts, the rest was in good nick

Cheers, as above I managed to pick up some cheap factory replacements

SPA Design in the UK do a good range of racing type mirrors
http://www.spa-uk.co.uk/design/productdetails/?objid=74
£30 to £40 less VAT plus freight depending on whether flat or convex. They're 2 bolt mounting and don't stick out as far as Ross' ones. The adjustment looks good too.
I've just got a couple for my Formula Ford so if anyone in Auckland wants to look at them PM me.

Ive sold 10 pairs of the mirrors over the last couple of years and had no bad feedback.
They use the existing holes so fitting is no problem.
I had a set on my car for a while to make sure they were going to do the job.
