Any idea if you need to pay for a sim card for these or do they have one built in?

You just get a cheap Vodafone pre pay sim card and then set your number as it's best mate. That way you only have to top up the pre ray every now and then.... It's still very very cheap insurance....a

I think the Vodafone prepayp last for a year before you have to top them up. So you'd just have to put $10 on a year to keep the sim active. The text alerts would be free if your phone was set up as your best friend,

Interesting stuff, I might grab one of them in a few weeks. No alarm in my car at the moment and the soft top isn't exactly secure, I'd probably run the tracker, then an alarm separate once I start dumping money into my car.

I see some people on NZ Hondas (where the guy that made the video originated from) bringing up the fact that the texts cost money, but I'd be happy with spending 20c a text to ensure the safety of my car.

I was wrong about the best mate thing. Texts cost 20cents every time. If you set it up to not text every time you leave your drive then it's still only going to cost you 10 or 20 dollars a year to keep the GPS unit topped up with credit. that way it will only use up your credit when you check the whereabouts of the car or are showing it off to your mates.
