Track days n events
What about a section for members to post up about trackdays, meets etc?
Since there wasn't much of a reply on this topic, thought I would post something.
For those that are interest, there is a twightlight track day session at Hampton Downs run by Play Day on Track (www.playdayontrack.co.nz) for $75. It is an open format session for two hours from 5 to 7, so you just come in and out of the pits as it suits.

There is a club down in Thames, called the Thames valley car club, they do a lot of hillclimbs, and grasskhana's, so you only need the entry level Motorsport license, which is just basically paying a fee.Skilfil wrote:Does anyone know of any grasskhanas/grass gymkhanas?
Wanting to have a bit of sliding fun/hoonage in my MX5 without beating it up on concrete.
As for not beating up on concrete, to be honest you are going to be better off on the concreate/tarmac, it might chew thru your tyres more on that stuff, but the grass track racing will shake your car apart, unless the farmer has been running sheep or goats on it, and it is like a bowling green, and then it is only like that for the first few runs, and starts to get cut up, and rutted out. Really need something with a bit more suspension travel than the MX5 for a grasskhana.
They have a concrete skid pan down at hampton downs, which is polished, nice and slippy like grass, tyres don't take too much of a battering, especially if they turn the water on, and then it is like being on ice.
Can hire it for the day, don't think it is that bad, if you can get about 20 people together to use it.
