Compression test?

Post by warrior » Wed Jul 20, 2011 3:26 pm

I would like to get my NA,s engine compression tested as i suspect that it may have a problem, its goes good and starts fine but very rarely it blows a bit of smoke. Not all the time but I would like to get it checked out. My question is does anyone have a compression tester I could use to check it or where can I get this done? Will most garages have a tester? Any help would be great.

Where in Auckland are you?. I'm in Massey and have a suitable gauge and could assist you.

Well, we have a run on Sun 31st, meeting 10:00 at the BP on the Southern motorway. I'll bring my gauge and tools, and we could do it there, doesn't take long to do.

my long range diagnosis is valve stem seals....
my cars seals arent the best and it smokes just a bit about one in 5 starts or so...

i suspect that it was caused by me when i put the turbo on and i didnt tune the light load fuelling quite right...it was a bit lean and i suspect the exhaust gas temp went too high cooking the exhaust valve stem seals....oh well still goes like snot so who cares!
