Roof repair in Wellington?

Post by Catto » Sun Sep 26, 2010 10:10 pm

Just wondering if anyone's had experience getting a vinyl roof patched or otherwise repaired in Welly - two weeks into owning our first MX-5 and someone hacked their way in with a bottle of Tui last night, setting the alarm off in the process. They left with nothing, we've got a bill to pay. Awesome.

Just in case this comes up for anyone else in future (since nobody was able to offer suggestions), I can recommend Kosta and Laki at Le Mans Upholstery (http://www.lemansautofabrics.co.nz/) in Martin Square, Wellington. Really great guys to deal with, and super pleased with the new roof - just hoping it lasts more than two weeks this time!

roofs

I replace roofs here that have been slashed by scumbags breaking into mx5's. I say to people with alarms ,wire it up so it doesnt lock the doors but is wired to the door circut.
Thieves try the door,if its locked they cut the roof put their hand in and open the door setting of the alarm.
If the doors unlocked, when they open the door the alarm goes of and you dont get your roof cut.
Always a good idea to remove the radio face and have the glovebox open if your parked in a bad part of town.

Cheers - that'll be my next / last resort if need be! Though our alarm is wired on top of the central locking system in the car, so we'll see if that's even possible.

I do leave the glovebox open (now) with a sign on the dash saying 'nothing of value kept in vehicle', and we've (now) got a big blue flashing light on the dash to indicate that the alarm is ready & waiting...we'll see how that all works.
