I did a special deal for the club through a hobby store quite a few years ago to buy a bulk purchase of the radio control MX5 from Tamiya.
I don't think you can get them anymore.

You can still get the Lexan shells for the tamiya 1/16th scale R/C cars. I saw one not so long ago.
Here is my rendition of a dutch chaps drift car, I used parts from a RX7 all Tamiya though. Hard to photograph metalic red plastic :D

decast models

Post by poison » Fri Oct 16, 2009 12:14 am

Oh nice, is it purely a model or an RC? If so what is the chassis? I have a
Tamiya TT-01 drifter and a couple of HPI Savage trucks... most of the fun is
making and modifying rather than using them...lol

I've made models of a couple of cars I've owned and it's always the wheels
that let them down, it's so hard to find the right wheels. I think you got
pretty close there.

It would be nice to see a good picture, most digi cam's have a focus lock
feature (unless it's a phone camera). Point the camera at something the same
distance away and push the button down half way, it "should" lock the focus,
keeping the button pushed half way, point it at the car and press the button
the rest of the way. Sorry if I'm telling you how to suck eggs.

Hi there, Haha no you are not telling me how to suck eggs, I had to rebuild this camera for the old company I worked for so the lens motor is a bit hairy! This is just a Tamiya static model, I think this was a gift for me as it was on special at the toy world? Was quite fun to build.

I think I have got a better picture of it this time?

These Tamyia NA kits can be found in most Toy World shops. I did one about 4 years ago in yellow, for my sister. I've also modified Hotwheels NA's. and other NB kits.

I have the whole 3 (NA, NB and NC) as model kits!
All unbuilt (Along with another 30 - 40 kits of various touring cars/f1/and the odd rally car). One day I will get around to building them...once I stop working on the real thing.
And I have at least 5 variants of the hotwheels cars (And I know of one other I don't have!)...

A bit late with this, however, this is a Gate model.

Gate models are real nice,I remember about 6-7 years ago before i had my MX5 i bought about 7 or 8 at the warehouse at half price ($50 down to $25) and sold them off at $50.00,Held onto a red one for a while then sold it for $60.00,Damn ,Which i had kept one now with having a red car .
Last i saw a red one on Trade Me about 6 mths ago it went for $80 odd bucks !
Apparently the Warehouse was never supposed to have them in the first place so a Diecast specialist told me.

Yeah, they're nice models although I think my photography flatters it a bit - the NA's are hard to come by now, probably no longer being produced.
