Hi, thought I would say HI. I haven't got the MX5 yet, but saving up for one! Going for an NB model, but which specific one I have no idea! Any suggestions!? Any places that you would recommend buying from would be good, as would places to stay away from.

Hope to keep in regular contact through this forum.....

Cheers
Ian

hi Ian

if you're dead-set on an NB mx5, perhaps look into an RS model as it has the torsen diff, 6 speed box and Bilstein shocks and some other sporty bits. Which will save you some trouble once the mod bug bites ;)

Have you tried an early NA yet? They're probably the raw-est, go-kartiest of all the MX5s ... :]

HI Jif!
some nice ones on Trademe that I have looked at... a couple of RS' there. I do like the wheels on those.. the torsion bar is also shown a lot on the adverts.
We are going for a NB model as we want to update the age of our second car slightly too. So something 97 upwards, so I don' think there are any NA models of that age....

On Trademe there is a TYPE M. Is that a 'proper' Mazda model /special edition. It does look great though, good seats, wood steering wheel and Gear knob etc.. Petrol Blue. Good looking alloys.
It's a 1600 though....

Anyway. We'll keep the forum updated as to our choices and no doubt test drives that we'll have to do...;-)

'97 was the last year for the NA model... not many around though.

The problem with test driving MX5's is the tendency to buy the first one you try! I bought the second one I drove ... ;)

Anyhoo.. have fun !
