I don't really think you'd be able to lower the seat at all. You can remove some padding from the seat base though, and I know others have done it.
Someone else may be able to give some pointers on doing this.

actually, I had a look around and found some discussion.
I made a howto (link to miata.net) here:
http://www.mx5forum.co.nz/viewtopic.php?t=8445
This was for a 94(NA), but I assume you can do a similar thing on an NB.
If you attempt this, please take some pictures for our howto.
Thanks

I did this on my 89 - not so much for height (im short

), but because it made the seat more 'huggy' for spirited driving. Unfortunatley this was a while back and I didnt take any pics.
I can tell you that it does make a difference, and feels better IMHO.
Take heed of the warning in the miata.net instructions - it really is sharp under there. Bloody can be removed fromthe seats with fabric cleaner.

Have noted that the latest model 2007 has raised seat rails..allowing some modification ..
I will investigate the possibility of chopping the seat tubes if there are any .. Johnboy

I'm also tall with long legs. In the NA's and NB's that I have owned, I remove the drivers seat and unclip the seat bottom cover at the front. i take some foam out of the seat base, but I also insert more foam on top of the front bolster to give me more support under my thigh. I also carry extra thigh support (foam pad) for extended trips. The best cure that I have found though, is to get a NC -more cockpit space and legroom
