howdy folks.
My drivers seat has a lot of wear on the bottom on the right hand side of the back rest, presumably from rubbing as people get in and out of the seat. When I bought it a patch had been glued onto the seat to hide the wear, but the job looks pretty shabby, and the glue is coming away.
My question(s) are:
a) Is there any auto-upholsterer or anything in Auckland who fixes this sort of thing?
b) Is getting a new drivers-side seat and replacing it either complicated or expensive, and
c) Are there any other options other than getting a car seat cover?
Thanks

V Spec seat wear
Hi person with no name....
I had a cat spray on one of my seats early this year. I gave up trying to clean it after MANY attempts and many $$$$. I ended up buying a used seat. Sorry I can't remember how much and I can't find it in the forum records either. I recall it was $100 to $150. Try Mazda spares in Auckland, or Ross at MX5parts.co.nz in Hamilton or Mazspares in CHCH.
It's an easy swap four bolts hold the seat down, but if you have an NA don't forget to unplug the 'seat speaker' cable first from under the seat. When/if you do the swap make sure you keep the headrest speakers out of the old seat in case they are better then the ones in the new seat.

Depends on how much you want to spend -
Presumably they're leather (being V Spec) - so patches are out I would think. May be time to get them recovered, but be prepared for an ouch. Try Vintrim in Glenfield - I've not had any work done myself but when I was on the scrounge for a scrap of leather they seemed to have some good quality work underway.
My guess is the search for replacement OEM items may be cheaper ...
Regards,
Greg
