Good Clutch and Flywheel?

Post by VandilFish » Thu Feb 11, 2021 6:48 pm

It's time to replace my clutch on my 99 NB6C, looking at upgrading to 1.8 flywheel and clutch.

Stock flywheel or lightweight?, looking at ACL Streetlite. ??
What's a good HD clutch? sorta looking at Exedy maybe.
Or maybe flyin miata's FM1 or FM2 happy meal kit? flywheel and clutch.

Voice opinions please and any recommendations etc.

Unless you are planning some power improvements, there is no benefit in upgrading the clutch. You will just have a heavier pedal pressure for no performance increase.
A lightened flywheel will give you a small improvement in engine response. The 1.8L ACTStreetlite weighs 13lb against the stock 1.8 flywheel's 18lb. I don't know what the NB6 flywheel weighs but it will be less that the 1.8.

I am planning on power mods a little later on. Would rather upgrade to a more power capable clutch now rather than having to do it again later.
Think I might just go with the Flyin Miata Kit.
