I week before I'm do for a WOF and my seat belt on the drivers side of my 91 MX5 won't retract. I understand this will prevent a WOF.
Anyone have this problem before? Any quick and simple solutions? What are my options
thanks in advance

Bill

Bill you will fail a WOF for this reason.
Have just had the experience of failing a WOF for seatbelts on one of the
tintops. This has meant that have had to spend $360 for a new pair of "web
grabbing" belts which are compulsory when replacing belts now unless the car
in question is on the "exempt" list.
I do not know if the MX is on the exempt list but if it is not I understand
that once you fail a WOF getting the existing belt repaired or replacing
with good operational 2nd hand ones is NOT an option, only replacement with
web grabbers is allowed.

Hi Guys
But if you replace it with a second hand one or get it repaired before you
go to get a WOF then they won't know and you won't be forced to fork out for
new "web grabbing" belts. However it depends on what price you want to put
on your safety in the event of an accident.

I lucked out! took apart the housing that surrounds the mechanism and
apparently it was just some dirt/grind blocking it so I'm "fastened in"
again with an appt for my WOF
Thanks for the advice
