My plate is the same letter size as a bike plate. they
cant really argue that it cant bee seen etc as its the
same as a bike. the white reflective background is
actually MORE reflective than a plate!!! its better
than a whole lot of HSVs cruising around here that
just have a silver letter stuck straight to the body with no back ground.
Jo was pulled over at a check point and was told in
no uncertain terms that it was illegal, she replied in
her most innocent voice "oh is it" she didnt get a
fine, they noticed it only because it was alot brighter
than the other cars plates coming towards them.

I have submitted a suggestion to Personalised Plates that they seek approval
for a motorbike sized car plate that they could offer to all of those who own
cars that would benefit from the smaller size. I figured that as they had
successfully had a Euro format plate approved as an alternative they might see
another market... no reply from them though. Maybe if a few others here made
the same submission to them?

That's not quite the case. If you admit to an offence, that admission will be
used in court. But does not necessarily ensure a conviction, the Police still
have to prove all the elements of the offence to gain a conviction.
For example, if you were caught speeding and admit to, say, 120km/h. that will
be given in evidence. The police still have to prove in court that you were
driving, they have to prove it was on a legal road and they have to prove the
speed travelled at, as well as the speed limit that applies.
More people would get off charges if we had affordable legal representation,
at the moment, tyhe legal system relies on a lot of bluff.

This a story about how the boys got around the big front
registration plate from the my Old country(Sweden)
There are some import of new US cars and couple of the GM
models(corvette) had so small space so a normal sized
Reg.plate did not fit that they got dispensation to use the
smaller Motorcycle reg.plate. It is proberbly easy to get
dispensation if you are a big company like GM.
And now it has been common to import 2nd hand Miatas from
US, and someone discovered that the dispensation covered all
US imports, and managed to get the smaller plate for the
front. Ok this did not help existing owners as the Reg.plate
follows the cars lifetime. But if you "loose or have the
plate stolen"you can have a new one manufactured in the
small MC size.
So the question is, would it be possible to get this change done here in NZ.
